Clumsy Thief Jr.

Clumsy Thief Jr. is a learning card game geared for ages five and up and two to four players.

We ordered it from Timberdoodle! (That's where we get most of our curriculum!)

You know how some people have photographic memories when it comes to math?

It seems to have passed over Alvin Jr., Abigail, and myself.

Homeschool family stuff review of clumsy thief jr and the kids

Clumsy Thief Jr. was created to help with basic math skills and memorization for facts that equal 10.

It is designed for ages five and up and for 2-4 players.

Family Game Night

After looking at it, I decided that I would play with all three kids.

I thought it would make it more fun and easier to learn how to play. We love being so flexible with where and when we learn! It was lovely and rainy outside the first time we played, so we sat on our patio to play.

The point of the game is to put together two cards that equal exactly ten. You deal seven cards to each person, and they make as many stacks out of that as they can. Then they yell "go" and start to place one of their cards on the top of another player's stack to create a new sum of ten. That player then collects the whole stack and puts it in front of them. When that part is done, each player replenishes their cards up to five.

Ella was a helper to Alvin Jr., and I helped Abigail for the first few rounds of the game.

The best way for them to remember how to do it is to be hands-on right away.

Getting It!

It took a few rounds, but they started really getting into it!

They are pretty competitive, so the part where they yell "go" and collect stacks got pretty crazy!

After just one session of playing the game a few times, Alvin Jr. and Abigail were starting to be able to "see" the sum of ten!

We definitely recommend Clumsy Thief Jr!
